Dancing the Night Away

Do you remember dances in the gym, when they were the center of teen social life?

The dances were a place for teens to go, have fun, and socialize with their peers and meet those from others schools. Many still hold fond memories of those dances.

Girls would doll-up, young men were dressed to impress. The hot songs were actual dances, like “The Twist,” or the “Mash Potato.” These dances were held in the gym when the building was known as the YWCA and attended by Y-Teens.

We’re inviting folks to relive those memories at a Sock Hop on Nov. 12. Dance to the tunes from the 1950s to the 1980s from two of Easton’s DJs: Brad F. Scott and Mayor Sal Panto.

Two great Easton businesses have already stepped forward to help out with this night. Beer will be provided by Two Rivers Brewing Co. and cupcakes by Sweet Girlz Bakery. Working Dog Press has also become a sponsor.

Dressing up in garb from the four decades is strongly encouraged. Ticket are $20 per person and be purchased here, or the night of the event. Proceeds benefit Third Street Alliance.

If you can’t wait a few more weeks to dance, take a Friday night and join us for Dancing on the Odds and learn a new style of dance.

Lessons begin at 7 on every odd Friday of the month, and general dance begins at 8 and goes until 10 p.m. Cost is $10 per person.

Join us for these dances!
