Third Street’s annual appeal for funding is underway. As you consider your gift, we want you to know that a new CARES Act rule allows taxpayers to deduct up to $300 on their tax returns for cash donations made in 2020.
While the attached NYTimes article spells out the rule in greater detail — and your accountant can help even further — that $300 donation goes far for nonprofits, including Third Street Alliance. Our staff has been working diligently throughout the pandemic to ensure that families stay in their homes, children have a safe space to learn, and women and families have a safe place to shelter when needed.
At Third Street Alliance, it costs $25 a night to shelter a woman and her child; that $300 could pay for 12 nights of service. The same amount could also provide before-and-after school care for three children for a week.
