In the autumn months Third Street Alliance opens its doors to the public for mansion tours during Lafayette Parent’s Weekend, Easton Garlic Fest and Easton Bacon Fest.
During those times, we greet and share the story of the mansion with locals and out-of-towners. Guides begin each tour with the story of Herman Simon and his silk mill and end with how TSA makes an impact in the community.
Last weekend Lafayette parents learned how their students spend precious time volunteering at TSA, through after-school homework help, spending time with the seniors in the adult day care and cooking meals for the shelter residents.
During the tours we had two students come through with their families and the students offered to volunteer as well. Through their volunteering efforts, Lafayette students help make TSA a place where women, children and families can live, learn and thrive.
Our staff enjoys making new friends during the tours. We love to know that you learned something new, were compelled to make a donation, or offered your talents to our volunteer team.
If you haven’t been on a tour of the mansion, we invite you to stop in on Oct. 7 and Nov. 4 between 12:00-3:00 p.m. Let us share the history and beauty of the Simon Mansion and the mission of Third Street Alliance with you.
